Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil Trial
We're thrilled to share some exciting news with you: starting today, August 29th, we're embarking on a trial to power our fleet vehicles with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). This step marks our dedication to sustainability and innovation in the automotive services industry.
The use of HVO is gathering pace in the fleets of light and heavy-duty vehicles, and we see its enormous potential to help shape a greener future in transportation. The HVO-powered vans we're trialling have the same fuel consumption rates as their diesel equivalents. What sets them apart are fewer servicing needs, improved engine performance, and no issues commonly associated with diesel particulate filters. The best part? These vans can operate on both diesel and HVO without requiring any modification, opening an exciting pathway for more sustainable operations.
Shannon Lomas, our Fleet Manager, sums it up well: "Exploring the potential of HVO aligns perfectly with our strategic vision for sustainability. Electric vehicles are still on our agenda, but it's crucial to diversify our approach. We're committed to staying at the cutting edge of sustainable innovation, which means examining all viable fuel alternatives."
